A statement from The Ministers and Elders of Providence URC New Mills

It’s with huge regret and sadness that Providence URC New Mills has had to withdraw from hosting the Longest Yarn Exhibition in November 2024.

The decision has been taken under advice from the team behind organising the Longest Yarn owing to the unexpectedly large numbers seen when the exhibition has been hosted in other places.

While we have lots of experience hosting other similar exhibitions and events including as part of New Mills Festival, Providence URC New Mills is a relatively small church in village setting with limited parking.

The popularity of the Longest Yarn Exhibition means we simply wouldn’t cope with the numbers seen elsewhere.

We hope to be able to bring the Longest Yarn mini exhibition towards the end of 2025.

Apologies once again to all who will be disappointed by the decision.
